We're glad you did.

Welcome to the Alamo Area Multimedia User Group. Our purpose is to serve a community of members who focus on various Adobe multimedia disciplines and/or ColdFusion advanced scripting language. Our primary sponsor is Adobe, so our focus is the Adobe product line. We also augment this with opportunities for our members to increase their competence in a variety of disciplines associated with Web Design and development and printed media.

Please come and help us make this a premiere Adobe Group. Check our meeting schedule and come join us as we work to stay on the forward edge of this technology.

What's Up In August?

In July we started a four part series of Workflow - Adobe's approach.

  • Web Development - July
  • Interactive Design - August
  • RIA Development - September
  • AIR Development - October

We are also planning a "Doing Business" series which may include topics like...

  • Writing a resume
  • Building a Proposal
  • The power of 10 ( Basically a managerie of lists that are the 10 best..., or the 10 worst..., or the 10 ,,,,,,)

In a little different vein, we will be adding an assistant manager to work with Glyn in several different areas. A short list of names was presented in July:

  • Anna Dorrycott
  • David Jones
  • Caryn Maus
  • John Murawski

Please come join us in August for the program and to vote for the new assistant manager.

Focus Groups

We expect to form focus groups on topics such as html, Dreamweaver, Flash, Cold Fusion, Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, FLEX, Air, Premier Pro, After Effects, or any other Adobe product or application area of interest to our members. During some portion of each meeting the members of the focus groups will go into separate areas of the meeting room to have their own "mini-meeting". The focus groups may decide to hold additional meetings at other sites.

Group Manager

In January 2006 we elected our second user group manager, Glyn Barrows. Our first group manager, Tony Bowie, of SwRI, will remain heavily involved in group activities in a support role. Our thanks go to Tony for a great job of providing leadership to get our group started!

Publishing Company Relationships

We are establishing relationships with technical publishing companies. They donate books that we use as door prizes at our meetings and send us newsletters that are forwarded to our members. They want us to be aware of the great books that they are bringing out that we can use to learn new technologies and to keep ourselves up-to-date. As further incentive to keeps us interested several offer discounts to user group members. Watch the publisher newsletters that we forward to members for any specials they are offering and note any information on available discounts below.
